JOAN AND PETER'S GERMAN RESTAURANT has been a fixture in San Juan Bautista, CA for more than 25 years. We are open 4 days a week, serving everybody’s favorite German Food. We are located on the main street of this historic Mission town.
Here you can find the finest quality veal with which we make a variety of delicious Schnitzels. Also on the menu, of course is the delicious Gypsy Schnitzel a savory blend of pork, peppers and paprika.
Our offerings consist of homemade apple strudel, made the old fashioned way by stretching the dough on the table and rolling in fresh apples, almonds and raisins. Hard to find that any more!! Also we feature homemade, (all our desserts are made on the premises) black forest cake with Kirschwasser.
Every day you will find made from scratch, soups and sauces coming from Peter’s kitchen. Hand grated potato pancakes are a perennial favorite. So be sure to order enough.

Everybody please take note!! Oktoberfest time is coming soon and whereas we no longer host our own, it has been taken over by the Service Club of San Juan Bautista and will be held as the Casa Maria which is a beautiful setting on the San Juan Bautista Mission property. We will be there and hope to see you there!! It will be held on the second Sunday of September as before and The Alpiners will be playing!!
